Logging in with a Passkey

Get back into the platform using an existing biometric passkey on a secure device

Written by Lia Bartosz

Passkeys let you log in to Pinpoint with Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, your phone, or a password manager (such as 1Password), instead of typing your password and a two-factor authentication code.

It's quicker, and it's more secure: a passkey can't be phished or reused on another website.

ℹ️ Note

Your passkey stays on your device or in your password manager. Pinpoint never sees your fingerprint or face!

Adding a Passkey

To add a passkey:

  1. Click your profile in the top-right of the platform.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Go to Security.

  4. Click Add a Passkey at the bottom of the page.

  5. Enter your Password

  6. Enter a Two-Factor Code.

  7. Click Continue.

  8. Follow your browser's prompt to save the passkey.

✅ Tip

Don't know your password? Click Don't know your password? Email me a code and enter the code we send you instead.

The passkey will appear in the Passkeys section, and you'll get an email to confirm it was added to your account.

You can add more than one passkey, for example one on your laptop and one on your phone!

Using a Passkey

To use the passkey, click the Log in With a Passkey option on the Pinpoint login page.

You can also click into the email field on any Pinpoint login page. If you have a passkey saved, your browser will offer it, the same way it offers saved passwords.

Removing a Passkey

To remove a passkey:

  1. Click your profile in the top-right of the platform.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Go to Security.

  4. Click the Delete icon.

  5. Confirm deletion in the pop up.

The passkey will stop working in Pinpoint straight away, and we'll email you to confirm it was removed.

ℹ️ Note

Removing a passkey from Pinpoint doesn't delete it from your device or password manager. To stop your browser offering it as a log in option, you'll need to delete it from there too.

FAQs

Do I still need two-factor authentication?

A passkey already counts as two factors (your device plus your face, fingerprint or PIN), so you won't be asked for a two-factor code when you log in with one. You can still log in with your password and two-factor code whenever you like.

I can't see the Passkeys section.

Passkeys are only available to companies in Early Access at the moment, so your company may not have them switched on yet. If your company requires Single Sign-On (SSO) to log in, passkeys aren't available.

My passkey is just called "Passkey".

Some providers, including Apple's iCloud Keychain, don't share their name with Pinpoint, so we show a generic name. The date it was added and last used will help you tell them apart.

I've lost my phone.

Log in another way (your password or another passkey) and remove the lost phone's passkey. If you can't log in, contact support and we'll remove it for you.

I didn't add or remove a passkey, but I got an email saying I did.

Reset your password straight away and contact support.

Which browsers work?

Passkeys work in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox. If your browser doesn't support them, the Passkeys section will say so.
