Connect Microsoft Teams and Pinpoint installs its app for everyone on your team
who has access to the Hiring Copilot. They can then message the Pinpoint app in
Teams to ask about their jobs, candidates and interviews - with their own
Pinpoint permissions applied, so people only ever see what they can already see
in Pinpoint.
Setting it up takes two steps, both done once.
Before you start
You will need:
A company manager in Pinpoint to connect the integration.
A Microsoft Teams administrator for your organisation. They approve the
connection and add the Pinpoint app to your Teams app catalogue. Microsoft only allows an administrator to add an app to an organisation's catalogue, which is why Pinpoint cannot do this part for you.The AI Hiring Copilot switched on for your Pinpoint account. If you are not
sure, ask your Pinpoint Success Manager,
Step 1: Connect Microsoft Teams
In Pinpoint, go to Settings → Integrations.
Find Microsoft Teams and open it.
Select Connect Microsoft Teams.
Sign in as a Microsoft administrator, review the permissions Pinpoint is
asking for, and approve them.You are returned to Pinpoint, which confirms the connection.
Step 2: Add the Pinpoint app to your Teams catalogue
Your Microsoft Teams administrator does this once.
In Pinpoint, on the same Microsoft Teams integration page, select
Download app package.Go to the Microsoft Teams admin center at admin.teams.microsoft.com.
Open Teams apps → Manage apps.
Select Upload new app, then Upload, and choose the file you
downloaded.
That is everything. Within a few minutes, everyone with access to the Hiring
Copilot will find Pinpoint in Teams.
Who gets the app
Everyone who has the Hiring Copilot permission in Pinpoint and is an active
user in your account.
When you give someone the Hiring Copilot permission later on, Pinpoint installs
the app for them automatically there is nothing extra to do. You will see a
note beside that permission on the roles screen reminding you that granting it
adds the Pinpoint app to that person's Teams.
Removing the Hiring Copilot permission stops them using the copilot straight
away. The app icon stays in their Teams, but it will tell them they no longer
have access.
Finding the app in Teams
After it is installed, your team will find Pinpoint in the Apps list in
Teams the + icon on the left-hand rail, or under the … menu.
It will not appear in their Chat list until they open it and send a first
message, because Teams only shows a chat once there is a conversation. We do not
send an unsolicited message to start one.
Tell your team they can pin it: right-click Pinpoint in the Apps list and
choose Pin.
Troubleshooting
Nobody can see Pinpoint in Teams.
The app package has probably not been uploaded yet, or was uploaded to a
different Microsoft organisation than the one you connected. Ask your Teams
administrator to check Teams apps → Manage apps in the Teams admin center and
search for "Pinpoint".
One person cannot see it.
Check they have the Hiring Copilot permission in Pinpoint, and that the email
address on their Pinpoint account matches the one on their Microsoft account. We
match people between the two systems by email address, so a personal or outdated
address means we cannot find them in your directory.
Our organisation does not allow custom apps.
Adding the package needs custom apps to be permitted in Teams apps → Manage
apps → Org-wide app settings. Your Teams administrator controls this.
The app is there but says I do not have access.
Your Pinpoint administrator needs to give you the Hiring Copilot permission.
We connected the wrong Microsoft organisation.
A Microsoft tenant can only be connected to one Pinpoint account. Get in touch
with support and we will help you disconnect and reconnect.
Privacy and permissions
The Pinpoint app answers using your own Pinpoint permissions - it cannot show
someone a job, candidate or interview they could not already open in Pinpoint.
Approving the connection lets Pinpoint see who is in your directory and install
its own app for your people; it does not give Pinpoint access to your Teams
messages, files or meetings.
