Setting a default column layout for your jobs

Written by Emilia Carvell

You can now set a default column layout for the applications view that applies across all of your jobs, instead of choosing columns job by job. Set your preferred columns once, and every job's applications view starts from that layout.

How to set your default columns

Step 1: Open the default column settings

Go to your default column layout settings for jobs and applications.

Step 2: Choose your columns

Pick the columns you want from the full set - including banked questions, offer details, and AI custom fields.

AI custom fields are added from the AI Fields drawer first, so they appear as a column on the job. Once they're showing, they're saved into your default like any other column.

Step 3: Save

Save your layout. Opening any job's applications view now applies your default. Anything that doesn't exist on that job is left out automatically.

You can choose between:

  • “Use this configuration for all jobs” → this will overwrite configuration saved on individual jobs

  • “Update default configuration” → this will only update jobs that don’t already have their own configuration

  • “Save for this job” → just updates the columns for this job

Good to know

Editing the columns on a specific stage of a specific job still only affects that stage and that job.

FAQs

Q: Does this change other people's views?

A: No - it's your own default layout.

Q: Why don't I see one of my default columns on a particular job?

A: That column doesn't exist on that job (for example a question that job doesn't ask), so it's simply not shown.

Q: Can I still customise columns on individual jobs?

A: Yes. Changes to a specific job's stage only affect that stage and job, and don't change your default.
