Before getting started, make sure the relevant integration plugin is installed and configured. This guide explains how stage actions work, how to configure them, and which integrations currently support the feature.
What Are Stage Actions?
Stage actions let you automate integration plugin actions based on candidate movement through job stages. Once configured, the action runs automatically the first time a candidate enters the selected stage.
Key benefit: Hands-free automation for assessments, exports, and background checks.
Example: Automatically send a Vervoe assessment when a candidate enters the Screening stage.
How Do Stage Actions Work?
An admin configures a stage action on a specific job stage
When a candidate enters that stage → the action runs automatically
Candidate data (name, email, etc.) is automatically populated from the application
Results and updates flow back to Pinpoint via webhooks (for assessment and background check plugins)
How Do I Configure Stage Actions?
Enable Stage Action in Plugin Configuration (
/platform-> Company -> Integration Plugins -> 3-dots menu -> Configure). Also, select the fields that should be configurable in the stage action by toggling the ADMIN toggle (you can skip the fields that have good default mappings - enabling all of them is a good default)
2. Navigate to Admin -> Job -> Edit Stage -> add/select a stage
3. Click the "Add stage action" button
4. Select the integration plugin action (e.g., "Send to Vervoe")
5. Configure the field mappings:
Dropdown fields: Select a pre-configured option (e.g., which assessment to use)
Text fields: Use formulas or enter custom values
6. Save the stage configuration

Note: Not all integration plugins support stage actions - the feature is being rolled out to additional integrations over time.
FAQs and Troubleshooting
Q: What happens when stage action fails?
A: You will see failed stage actions under Incomplete Actions in the sidebar, where you can fix the action and send it manually after fixing.
Or this failed action can be continued by going to the candidate profile and sending it again to provider.
Q: Can I edit a stage action after creating it?
A: Yes, go to the stage settings and click the edit button on the action card.
Q: What happens if a candidate is moved to a stage multiple times?
A: The stage action triggers at most once (another movement into a stage action won't trigger an action)
Q: Can I have multiple stage actions on one stage?
A: Yes, you can configure multiple actions on a single stage.
Q: Can I have the same action (but with a different config) in multiple stages?
A: Yes!
