This article explains how to turn on LinkedIn Apply Connect and LinkedIn Apply for your Pinpoint account.
Both are configured per LinkedIn company page, and the steps differ depending on whether that company page is attached to a paid LinkedIn Recruiter contract. Start with Step 1 - Check which of your Company Pages have a LinkedIn Recruiter contract.
What you get
Feature | What it does | Available on |
LinkedIn Apply (previously Easy Apply) | Jobs are posted to LinkedIn in real-time without leaving Pinpoint. Candidates apply to your Pinpoint-posted jobs without leaving LinkedIn. The full application - CV, cover letter, your screening questions, and equality monitoring traits- lands in Pinpoint as normal. | Every LinkedIn Company Page, whether or not it is attached to a paid LinkedIn Recruiter dashboard/contract |
LinkedIn profile widgets | A short LinkedIn profile on the candidate list, and a full profile with skills match on the application record inside Pinpoint. | Only LinkedIn Company Pages attached to a paid LinkedIn dashboard/contract (Recruiter, or Job Slots / promoted job postings). |
Applicant notifications | LinkedIn tells the candidate when their application has been viewed, their CV downloaded, or their application rejected. | Enabled as part of Apply Connect setup - see Path A. |
💡 Apply Connect does not change how many people see your jobs. It changes the apply experience on jobs you already post to LinkedIn. It is not job promotion, it is not sourcing, and it does not replace your careers site - it adds another route in.
Before you start
You will need:
A Pinpoint user with Administrator rights.
Your LinkedIn integration already set up in Pinpoint, with at least one LinkedIn Company Page configured.
For LinkedIn companies attached to a LinkedIn Recruiter contract: the same person (or someone working alongside them) needs Recruiter Admin access in LinkedIn for that contract.
A list of which of your LinkedIn Company Pages are attached to a LinkedIn Recruiter contract - Step 1 explains how to put this together.
Step 1 - Check which of your Company Pages have a LinkedIn Recruiter contract
Apply Connect and LinkedIn Apply are set up per LinkedIn company page, not once for your whole Pinpoint account.
This matters because you may have several LinkedIn company pages configured in Pinpoint, while only a subset of them are attached to a paid LinkedIn Recruiter contract - which determines what each one needs.
1a. List your LinkedIn company pages
In Pinpoint, go to Settings → Integrations → My Apps, select the LinkedIn integration, then click the integration's name to open its settings page.
You will see every LinkedIn company page configured on your account, each showing its name and LinkedIn Company ID. Note them all down.
1b. Find out which are covered by a LinkedIn Recruiter contract
Send your list of Company IDs to your LinkedIn representative - or whoever in your organization owns the LinkedIn relationship - and ask them to mark up:
Which of these LinkedIn company pages are attached to a paid LinkedIn dashboard/contract? (LinkedIn Recruiter, Job Slots, or promoted / premium job postings.)
Which dashboard/contract is each one attached to? This matters if you hold more than one contract with LinkedIn.
1c. Decide the path for each company
The LinkedIn company is… | Follow |
Attached to a paid LinkedIn dashboard/contract | Path A, then Path B. Add Apply Connect first, then enable LinkedIn Apply. |
Not attached to any contract | Path B only. Enable LinkedIn Apply. Do not click Add Apply Connect - it will not work for this company. |
⚠️ Pinpoint cannot check whether a LinkedIn company page is eligible for Apply Connect. Eligibility sits entirely with LinkedIn, and only you and your LinkedIn representative can confirm it. Adding Apply Connect to a company page that isn’t covered by a contract will return an error.
Setup with child companies under a parent company with contract
LinkedIn contract maps to a single LinkedIn company page - one contract, one company. The exception is where the company page attached to the contract is a parent company with child company pages beneath it. In that case the contract also covers the child company pages, and you can enable Apply Connect on the parent and its children using that same contract.
Example:
This account has six LinkedIn company pages in Pinpoint and one Recruiter contract attached to the parent company page:
LinkedIn company | Covered by a contract? | Path A (Add Apply Connect) | Path B (Enable LinkedIn Apply) |
Acme Group (parent) | Yes - Recruiter contract | ✅ | ✅ |
Acme Retail (child of Acme Group) | Covered by the same contract | ✅ | ✅ |
Acme Logistics (child of Acme Group) | Covered by the same contract | ✅ | ✅ |
Acme Foundation | No | ❌ Skip | ✅ |
Acme Ventures | No | ❌ Skip | ✅ |
Acme Studios | No | ❌ Skip | ✅ |
All six end up with LinkedIn Apply. Only the three covered by the contract get Apply Connect, and therefore the profile widgets and applicant notifications.
Path A - Add Apply Connect
Do this only for LinkedIn company pages attached to a paid LinkedIn Recruiter dashboard/contract. Repeat it for each of them.
Step 1 - Check you have the right company
Before you connect anything, confirm the LinkedIn company in Pinpoint is the one you mean and that you can access it from your LinkedIn account:
Copy the LinkedIn Company ID from the company card in Pinpoint.
Open
https://www.linkedin.com/company/{paste-company-id-here}in your browser. For example above it will behttps://www.linkedin.com/company/99396725Confirm this is the Company Page you expect, and that it is associated with the Recruiter dashboard / contract you have Recruiter Admin access to.
Step 2 - Add Apply Connect
On the LinkedIn company card in Pinpoint, click Add Apply Connect.
LinkedIn's own widget opens.
Check the contract shown at the top is the right one for this company.
If it isn't, click Change contract,
and select the proper one
Then click Choose integration in the top-right corner.
Tick the checkbox in the Apply Connect section.
Note: The Applicant notifications checkbox is the only place this can be turned on or off. When it's ticked, LinkedIn emails candidates when their application is viewed, their CV is downloaded, or they are rejected. When it's unticked, Pinpoint still sends those events to LinkedIn, but LinkedIn does not pass them on to the candidate.
Click Save at the very bottom of the widget. After about 10 seconds, the Activated for current contract will appear in the Onboarding widget.
Click on back to integration in the top left corner
The Apply Connect is now ENABLED
Step 3 - Move on
Repeat Steps 1–2 for any other LinkedIn company page attached to a contract.
Then follow Path B for every LinkedIn company page - including the ones you have just set up here.
💡 Adding Apply Connect on its own does not change your job postings. It switches on the in-Pinpoint LinkedIn profile widgets and applicant notifications for that company. Candidates cannot apply on LinkedIn until you complete Path B.
Path B - Enable LinkedIn Apply
Do this for every LinkedIn company you want candidates to be able to apply through on LinkedIn - whether or not it is attached to a contract.
On the LinkedIn company card in Pinpoint, click Enable LinkedIn Apply and confirm.
After that the status of LinkedIn Apply will change to ENABLED
⚠️ Read this before you click.
Enabling LinkedIn Apply applies to every public job already posted to LinkedIn from Pinpoint under this LinkedIn company page. Pinpoint sends an update to LinkedIn for every one of those postings, and each is reposted with LinkedIn Apply turned on. Candidates will start seeing the LinkedIn Apply button on them.
Jobs posted under your other LinkedIn companies are unaffected until you enable LinkedIn Apply on those companies too. The only other exception is a job you have individually opted out (see Opting individual jobs out).
As part of that update, Pinpoint synchronizes each job's application settings and screening questions to LinkedIn, so the application candidates complete on LinkedIn matches what you ask for in Pinpoint:
Contact details - whether middle name is asked for, whether phone number is required, whether address is collected.
CV / resume - required, optional or not asked for.
Cover letter - the file upload and the free-text personal summary, each following your Pinpoint setting.
Screening questions - your job's questions, including conditional follow-up questions.
Equality monitoring questions - carried across as your own voluntary questions, so LinkedIn does not substitute its own.
Once a candidate submits, their answers, CV and cover letter come back into Pinpoint against that job, sourced as a LinkedIn Apply Connect application.
What doesn't carry across
Date range questions are the one Pinpoint question type LinkedIn cannot render - they are left out of the LinkedIn application.
Conditional questions nested more than one level deep, and conditional, questions triggered by a multi-select, free-text, or any other non-yes/no, non-single-select question.
LinkedIn does not support embedded forms, video questions, or multi-language applications at all.
Jobs posted directly on LinkedIn are not eligible. The posting has to come from Pinpoint.
Opting individual jobs out
LinkedIn Apply is a default for the LinkedIn company page - any single job can override it.
In Pinpoint, edit the job, go to the LinkedIn job Organic Postings section, and set LinkedIn Apply to Disabled. New jobs default to Enabled while LinkedIn Apply is on for the LinkedIn company page the job is posted under.
How to check it worked
On the LinkedIn integration settings page, work down your list of LinkedIn company pages. Each should show LinkedIn Apply: Enabled, and the contract-backed ones should also show Apply Connect: Enabled.
Open the job on LinkedIn - candidates should see the LinkedIn Apply or [in] Apply button instead of being sent to your careers site.
In LinkedIn Postings page, the LinkedIn Apply row show the current status of that feature for given job posting
Troubleshooting
"Error enabling Apply Connect" appears on a company card.
The most common cause is that this LinkedIn company isn't covered by the contract you selected - either the wrong contract was chosen, or the company has no contract behind it at all. Re-check the company using Path A Step 1 and try again with the correct contract. If the company genuinely has no contract, skip Path A for it and complete Path B only. If you're not sure which contract covers which company, ask LinkedIn.
I have several LinkedIn companies and only some of them have Apply Connect enabled.
That's expected if only some are attached to a contract. Every company can have LinkedIn Apply enabled; only contract-backed companies will show Apply Connect enabled.
The LinkedIn Apply button hasn't appeared on my jobs.
Check that the job is a public LinkedIn posting, that it hasn't been individually opted out in the job settings, and that LinkedIn Apply shows as Enabled for the LinkedIn company that job is posted under.
The LinkedIn profile widgets aren't showing in Pinpoint.
Those require Apply Connect to be configured on the LinkedIn company the candidate applied under, which in turn requires a paid LinkedIn Recruiter dashboard/contract. Applications that came in under a company without a dashboard/contract won't show them.
If you're still stuck, contact Pinpoint Support with the affected LinkedIn Company ID and a link to one of the jobs.
Turning it off
Turn off LinkedIn Apply for a company: click Disable LinkedIn Apply on that LinkedIn company's card. Pinpoint sends an update to LinkedIn for every job posted under it, and candidates go back to applying on your careers site.
Turn off Apply Connect entirely: contact LinkedIn (via their Help page or through your account team) - the connection between your contract and Pinpoint is managed on LinkedIn's side.
FAQ
Does this cost anything?
No. Apply Connect and LinkedIn Apply are included in your Pinpoint LinkedIn integration.
One of my LinkedIn company pages has no contract. Can candidates still apply on LinkedIn?
Yes. LinkedIn Apply works on every company. What that company won't get is the LinkedIn profile widgets inside Pinpoint.
Will candidates still see my screening questions?
Yes. They answer them on LinkedIn before submitting, and the answers arrive in Pinpoint with the application.
Can I try it on one job first?
Enabling LinkedIn Apply updates all jobs posted under that LinkedIn company. To limit it, opt individual jobs out in the job settings.
Can I opt out of Applicant Notifications?
Yes it is possible in the ApplyConnect onboarding widget. It can be done during the initial setup, or after it.
