The AI Hiring Copilot is your conversational hiring assistant, built into Pinpoint. You can now open it from any page using the Copilot icon in the top header.
It understands what you're looking at: on a candidate it focuses on that person, on a job it focuses on that role, and everywhere else it helps across your whole account, from searching candidates to checking what needs your attention and preparing your next step. It always shows you what it's about to do and waits for your go-ahead before making a change.
Before you start
Permission needed. You need the Access the AI Hiring Copilot user permission to use the Copilot. If you don't see the Copilot icon, ask an admin at your organisation to grant it underUser Management > Permissions
Is it switched on? The platform-wide Copilot is switched on by Pinpoint. If you have the role but still don't see the Copilot icon in the header, contact your Pinpoint Customer Success contact to have it enabled for your account.
It works with your own hiring data. The Copilot's answers are based on what's already in your Pinpoint account: applications, CVs, scorecards, interview feedback, jobs, and notes. The more your team captures, the more helpful it is.
How to use the Copilot
Step 1: Open the Copilot
Click the Copilot icon in the top header (its label is Open AI Hiring Copilot). A chat panel opens on the right. You can keep working with it docked, or expand it to full screen using the expand button.
Step 2: Ask a question or pick a suggestion
When the chat is empty you'll see the prompt "What would you like me to help with?" and a few Suggestions to get you started, such as:
Top candidates for a role: "Who are the strongest candidates for my most active role?"
What needs my attention?: "What needs my attention today?"
Interviews this week: "What interviews are scheduled this week?"
Click a suggestion, or type your own question in the message box. Press Enter to send (Shift + Enter for a new line).
Step 3: Work in context on a candidate or job
Open a candidate's application and the Copilot focuses on that candidate. You can ask it to summarise what's happened so far, pull together interview feedback, or draft an email. Open a job and it focuses on that role, so you can ask it to help draft or improve the job, or rank the candidates in the pipeline. You don't need to tell it where you are, because it already knows.
Step 4: Review and confirm any action
When you ask the Copilot to do something, such as move a candidate to the next stage, add a comment, send an email, or create or update a job, it first describes exactly what it will do and shows Confirm and Cancel buttons. Nothing happens until you click Confirm. Check the details, then click Confirm to go ahead, Cancel to stop, or reply in the chat to adjust the proposal first.
Step 5: Save and reuse your own prompts
If there's something you ask for often, like a standard candidate summary or a particular kind of draft, you can save it as a prompt. Type / in the message box to open your Saved prompts.
Step 6: Find your past conversations
Your previous chats are kept under Recents. Open one to pick up where you left off, start a New chat at any time, or rename a conversation to find it again later.
Tips
Be specific. "Summarise this candidate's interview feedback and flag anything the interviewers disagreed on" gets a better answer than "tell me about this candidate."
Name the record when you're not on it. From a dashboard, say which candidate or job you mean (for example, "email Sarah Chen about the Senior Backend role"). The Copilot confirms which record it's found before doing anything.
Attach a document (like a job description or interview guide) to a message when you want the Copilot to work from it.
Use it before interviews to walk in knowing what's already been covered and what still needs exploring.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the Copilot icon. Check that you have the Access the AI Hiring Copilot Permission (ask an admin; it's set under User Management > Permissions). If you have it and still can't see the icon, the feature may not be switched on for your account yet, so contact your Pinpoint Customer Success contact.
It says I've reached a monthly limit. Your account has a shared monthly limit for AI Hiring Copilot usage. If you see "you have exceeded your monthly Hiring Copilot limit", contact your Pinpoint Customer Success contact to review it.
It couldn't read a document I attached. Try a different file. A text-based PDF or Word document works best, and scanned images can't be read.
It asked me to confirm and I want to change something. Reply in the chat with what you'd like different, and the Copilot revises its proposal and asks you to confirm again. Nothing is done until you approve.
FAQs
Q: Will the Copilot do things without asking me?
A: No. It prepares the change and shows you exactly what it'll do, and nothing happens until you confirm.
Q: Can it see things I'm not allowed to see?
A: No. It works as you, within your own permissions. It can only see and do what you could do yourself.
Q: Can I ask it for reports or company-wide statistics?
A: It's a hiring assistant rather than a reporting tool. It can answer about a specific set of records you name, but for dashboards and overall numbers use Insights.
Q: Does it work with anonymised candidates?
A: If your team uses anonymised (blind) screening, the Copilot won't try to identify the candidate and won't send emails to an anonymised candidate.
Q: Is this different from the Copilot I already used on a candidate?
A: It's the same assistant. Now you can open it from anywhere using the header icon, and it's aware of the page you're on.
