Working with Copilot Plays

Save, share, and reuse your best prompts with Copilot plays

Written by Lia Bartosz

A play is a saved instruction for the AI Hiring Copilot, such as "Summarise this week's new applicants for my open roles and flag anyone who looks like a strong fit."

You save it once and run it with one click whenever you need it. Obviously, these plays can have much more detailed instructions and ways you want jobs done.

✅ Availability

Copilot needs to be enabled for your account. You need the Access the AI Hiring Copilot permissions.

Viewing Plays

Plays live in a new Plays tab in the expanded Copilot.

You'll see the plays you've made and any that colleagues have shared with you.

Creating Plays

To create a play:

  1. Click the Copilot button in the top-right hand corner of the navigation bar.

  2. Expand it to full screen.
Plays will only appear when expanded. It won't appear if you keep Copilot docked.

  3. Go to Plays from the list on the left.

  4. Click Create New.
    This will open a drawer.

  5. Enter a Name (up to 60 characters).
For example: "Interview prep". Each of your plays needs unique name.

  6. Write the Prompt.
This is what you want Copilot to follow each time. Be specific about what you want back.

  7. Check Access.
New plays start as Only me.

  8. Click Create plays.

Copilot will write a one-sentence summary of what the play does and shows it on the play's card. While it's being written, the card says "Writing a summary...".

This usually takes a few seconds.

✅ Tip

You can also save a play straight from a chat.

To do this, hover over a message you sent and click the star (Save as play). The same panel opens with your message filled in.

Sharing Plays

Anyone with plays can share the ones they've created for themselves, as long as they have the Share Copilot plays with the whole company or with access groups permission.

To share a play with the company or an access group:

  1. Click Change (next to Access).

  2. Choose one of the options:

    • Only me: nobody else can see or use it.

    • Company: everyone at your company who has Copilot.

    • Access groups: only people in the access groups you pick.

  3. Click Change.

⚠️ Caution

If you pick an access group whose members don't have Copilot, you'll see a warning that the group can't use Copilot, so they won't see the play.

ℹ️ Note

If you don't have permission to share, you'll see "Only admins, and people they give permission to, can share plays." instead of the Change button.

Using Plays

You can run a play in several ways:

  • Click its card on the Plays tab, or its name in table view.

  • Open a shared play to read it, then click Use play.

  • In any chat, type / followed by the start of the play's name, then pick it from the list. Typing / on its own shows View plays, which takes you to the Plays tab.

  • On the Copilot start screen, pick one of your three most-used plays from the Plays column.

Using a play starts a new chat and sends the play's prompt as your message.

Copilot answers with your own access, so a shared play shows each person only the jobs and candidates they can already see.

Organizing Plays

To keep your plays tidy:

  • Use All, Yours and Organisation to filter. Your own plays are listed under Created by you, and ones shared with you under Shared with you.

  • Search looks at each play's name, summary, prompt and the name of the person who created it.

  • Sort by Recently used, Last updated or Alphabetical.

  • Switch between Card view and Table view. The table shows Play, Created by, Shared with and Last updated.

Changing Plays

Each play's menu has Edit (your own plays) or View (shared ones), Duplicate, and Delete when you're allowed to delete it.

Tips and Best Practices

When creating a play:

  • Duplicate a shared play to make it your own. Duplicate creates a private copy called "Copy of [name]" that you can edit freely. You can't edit a play someone else created.

  • Write prompts that work for anyone. Shared plays run with each person's own access, so avoid prompts that rely on a particular job or candidate that only you can see.

  • Editing a prompt refreshes its summary. Copilot writes a new summary each time you change the prompt text.

Troubleshooting

I can't see the Plays tab.

Make sure the Copilot is expanded to full screen and you're on a laptop or desktop. Check you have the Access the AI Hiring Copilot permission.

If you still can't see it, plays may not be switched on for your account yet. Contact your Customer Success contact.

There's no Change button next to Access.

You don't have the Share Copilot plays with the whole company or with access groups permission. Ask an admin at your organisation to grant it.

I can share with the company but there's no Access groups option.

Picking access groups also needs permission to manage users or permissions. Ask an admin to grant it, or ask them to share the play for you.

A play I shared is now set to Only me.

This happens in two cases. If your sharing permission was removed, the plays you had shared go back to Only me. And if a play was shared only with access groups that have since been deleted, it goes back to Only me too.

A shared play has disappeared.

The person who created it may have deleted it or changed who can use it, or an admin may have deleted it.

FAQs

Do my old saved prompts still work?

Yes. When plays are switched on, the prompts you saved in the Copilot (the one you open from the top header) become your plays. They stay private to you until you choose to share them.

Can I edit a play someone shared with me?

No. Only the person who created a play can edit it. Use Duplicate to make your own copy.

Who can delete a play?

The person who created it, and company admins. Deleting a shared play removes it for everyone it was shared with, and Pinpoint warns you before it does.

Can admins see everyone's private plays?

No. Admins see the same plays as everyone else: their own, plus any shared with the company or with their access groups.

What happens to someone's shared plays when they leave?

They stay available to the people they were shared with. A company admin can delete them if they're no longer needed.

Does a shared play let people see more than they normally could?

No. Copilot always runs a play with the access of the person using it.
