The Checks page in Onboarding gives you one place to see and manage Pinpoint Background Checks for every candidate in Onboarding.
It works like the Checks page in Recruitment, but only shows candidates who are in Onboarding, so your onboarding team can track progress, order new checks and open results without switching back to Recruitment.
You'll see the same order statuses, check statuses, and order drawer you may already know from Recruitment.
Accessing the Checks Page
To access checks in Onboarding:
Go to Onboarding.
Select Checks in the left-hand menu.
✅ Availability
This feature is only available if Pinpoint Background Checks are switched on for your account.
You will also need the following permissions: View the results of Pinpoint background checks or Order a Pinpoint background check. If you can't see the page, ask an admin to review your setup.
Viewing Checks
The page lists background check orders for candidates who are (and whom you have visibility of) in Onboarding.
A few things to bear in mind:
Orders placed earlier from the candidate's application in Recruitment also appear here, because they belong to the same candidate.
Candidates who are not in Onboarding don't appear. Use the Checks page in Recruitment to see their orders.
If you don't have visibility of a candidate in Onboarding, you won't see their orders either.
Filtering Checks
Status Tabs
Use the tabs across the top to focus on the orders that matter. Each tab shows a count.

Search
Use the search box to find an order by candidate name, order ID or job title.
Filters
Select Add filter to narrow the list. Filters are grouped as follows:
Onboarding - Candidate owner
Background check order - Order status, Check, Check statuses, Order date
Application - Stage group
Job - Job, Location, Department, Division
Candidate owner is the filter that's specific to Onboarding.
Use it to see only the candidates you own, so you can focus on your own workload. You can select more than one owner.
ℹ️ Note
Switching tabs clears your search and filters, so you always start a tab with the full list. Order status isn't available on the Decided tab, because every order there has already been decided.
Columns
Each row shows the candidate's name, the order ID and the job title, plus the Order status, Check statuses and Order date. On the Decided tab you'll also see the Decision and Decision date.
Opening the Checks Drawer
To open an order from Onboarding, select a candidate's Name or Order ID.
This will open the same drawer you'd see in Recruitment, with the Results and Order details tabs, where you can download reports and record a decision.
To go to the candidate's Onboarding profile instead, either:
Select View candidate in the order drawer, or
Select the three-dot menu at the end of the row, then View candidate.
You can find complete instructions of using the drawer in our guide on viewing Pinpoint background check results.
Ordering a New Check
To order a new check in Onboarding:
Select Order Pinpoint Checks at the top-right of the page.
Select the candidates you want to order checks for. You can search by candidate name and filter by Candidate owner.
Continue through the remaining steps to choose the package of checks and place the order.
These steps are the same as in Recruitment.
✅ Availability
You need the Order a Pinpoint background check permission and enough credits on your account to place orders.
ℹ️ Note
Only candidates who are in Onboarding can be selected, so you can't order checks here for candidates who haven't been sent to Onboarding yet.
FAQs
Why can't I find a candidate on the Checks page?
Check that the candidate has been sent to Onboarding and that you have visibility of them there. The page only shows orders for candidates you can see in Onboarding. If the candidate is still in Recruitment, use the Checks page in Recruitment.
Why isn't a candidate in the list when I order checks?
The list only includes candidates who are currently in Onboarding. Candidates you've archived in Onboarding aren't included. Check that the candidate is in Onboarding and not archived.
Are these the same checks I see in Recruitment?
Yes. They're the same orders, shown in two places. A decision you record here also appears in Recruitment, and the other way round.
Can I order checks for a candidate I can't see in Recruitment?
Yes. When you order from the Checks page in Onboarding, the candidates you can choose from follow your visibility in Onboarding. You can order for any candidate you can see there, even if you don't have visibility of their application in Recruitment.
Can I filter by who owns the candidate?
Yes. Use the Candidate owner filter. You can use it both on the Checks page and when choosing candidates to order checks for.
Who can see the Checks page in Onboarding?
Users with permission to view or order Pinpoint background checks, who also have access to Onboarding. If a colleague can't see it, ask an admin to review their permissions on the User Management page.
