Managing Credits

Learn how to use credits, check your balance, and how to top up your balance

Written by Emilia Carvell

Credits allow you to prepay for several feature actions in Pinpoint, helping you keep everything in one place.

Each action consumes a set number of credits. Your pricing will be attached to you credit quote and is available on request from your Customer Success Manager (CSM) at any point.

✅ Permissions

You will need View subscription, invoices, payment details, and credit usage permissions to manage credits.

Credit-Enabled Features

There are a number of features that are currently available with credits:

  • AI Match Score

  • AI Notetaker

  • One-Way video interviews

  • Pinpoint Background Checks

  • Reference Checks

Using Credits

Credits are deducted when you trigger a credit action.

In the case of reference checks, clicking the button to request a set of references for a candidate will trigger this. Manually adding data for record-keeping does not consume credits.

ℹ️ Note

In this example, bundles count as one request. If your request template includes multiple references, it counts as one request trigger.

Understanding when credits are used allows you to manage your balance effectively, ensuring you can send reference requests when needed.

Checking Credit Balance

To check your balance:

  1. Expand Settings.

  2. Select Billing.

  3. Go to the Credits tab.

Running out of Credits

Proactive notices help you to stay on top of your credit usage and topping up is a quick process:

  • Low-balance alerts - You’ll receive a notification when your balance reaches 25% remaining.

  • Out-of-credits behavior - If you’ve exhausted your credits, we will notify you immediately and pause credit features in your account.
You will still be able to access any information related to actions already performed (e.g. a previous reference request).

  • CSM support - Your CSM can assist with immediate top-ups and will contact you proactively at both the 25% remaining mark and if you run out.

Topping up Credits

You can top up your credits at any time. Your CSM will work with you on an estimation to ensure you have the right amount for the period ahead. If plans change, it’s easy to update your recurring credit amount and top up on the go.

To top up credits, click Send Notification from the Credits tab. You can also reach out to your CSM directly.

Once processed, your billing portal will show the updated balance immediately and you will be able to use credits in Pinpoint.

Rolling Over Credits

Credits renew on your chosen subscription cycle, and there is a roll over window for all credit purchases. After this rollover window, credits expire.

If you are on an annual (or above) subscription cycle, this rollover window is 90 days. This gives you 455 days to use the allocation of credits until expiry.

If you are on quarterly or monthly subscription cycle, this rollover window is 30 days on top of the subscription window.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I notice my credits are running low?

If you notice your credits are running low, reach out to your CSM immediately to arrange for a top-up or change to your recurring amount.

Can I transfer credits to another account?

Credits are not generally transferrable between accounts. Each account manages its own balance based on its subscription. If you have multiple Pinpoint accounts under a single subscription, the default behaviour is to share your credit balance across these accounts.

How can I check if a credit action was performed?

In the specific section for the credit action (i.e., reference checks), you can view the status of the action performed.

How can I get a detailed summary of our usage?

Your CSM can provide a CSV export of your credit usage for any timeframe, including which users performed which credit actions and when. This can also be scheduled on a regular basis.
